Student visa for our children

Featured Replies

Dear sir or madam,

We are hopefully moving with our family with 4 children to Thailand for at least 5 years on the 3rd of August 2020. Me and my wife are 44 and 45 years old . We have now issued the student visa application for 2 of our children ( 9 and 5 years old) and we as parents will accompanie them and will get a Non O visa. With the whole covid situation at hand we are wondering if we would be allowed to enter the country at that time? If not what should we do to make this possible? Get a work permit for example? Hope to hear from you.

As of now..it is undetermined whether you will be able to enter and if so under what conditions or requirements you might be subject to. Wait until country is open for foreigners before making any firm plans

Thank you for your quick respons. Our plans already have been made 1 year ago so we have passed that station unfortunately. We heard that the borders will open 1 july probably for foreigners but only if you have a working permit? If this is the case than it could be a chance for us to get a work permit to make access possible. To get will take some weeks of course thats why would be great if we knew what to do? If not we will just have to wait for the 1st of july to see what happens.

You will need to have been offered a job before you can get a work permit.

Has either of you had a job offer?

Even if you have a work permit your children would not be allowed to enter Thailand, as they would not have work permits.

The families of work permit holders are not being granted entry to Thailand.

At the present time your family can not enter Thailand. Nobody can tell you when these restrictions will change.

A troll post has been removed.

OP, come on is this a wind up.

No details where you from etc.

You can't be serious.

"Get a work permits if possible" ??

You have ZERO chance of entering Thailand even in distant future.

My Apologies. We are from the Netherlands. We already paid the fees for schooling.  If we would get  student visa for our children we hopewe can accompnie them.

Ok. This does not sound very hopeful unfortunately. But thank you for your respons. We will wait for more news on the 1st of july. Or are there other dates where the Thai authorities will give more news regarding opening the borders again?

It's a month to month waiting game.

Right now only foreigners with work permits can entry with 14 day self-paid quarantine. No other foreigner allowed.

Comes 1st of July, they might or might not add another group like business investors with invitations from Thai businesses.

They might also agree on a "travel bubble" within parts of ASEAN.

It's hard to say what it's gonna look like comes July.

Even less so in August and so on.

Btw, there are many foreign spouses of Thais that are stuck outside of Thailand unable to see the families left in Thailand. There's no even mention yet when they will be allowed to get in.

I think there's a zero chance that anyone would be issued Non-O Visa in August, even with a requirement to undergo 14 day quarantine on arrival.

At this time none you can enter the country until at least July 1st.

If you children apply for non-ed visas with supporting documents from a school you and your wife could get single entry non-o visa for

being their parents.

Then after they get extension of stay based upon attending school you and your wife could apply for extensions of stay for being their parents. Only one parent per child can apply for the extension. Both of you would need 500k baht in a Thai bank for 30 days to apply for the extensions.
