Prayut Chan-o-cha

Local elections might be held before the end of 2020, even if the Covid-19 outbreak has not been resolved, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Monday (June 15).

The outbreak has forced the government to further postpone arrangements for local elections, which are usually held within a year of a new administration coming to power. No local elections have been held for the past six years of General Prayut’s rule.

"People must cooperate with the government as well," Prayut said on Monday, adding that the election date depended on the laws and the readiness of the Interior Ministry and Election Commission.

"If possible, we will hold the elections this year, so we would like to ask people to wait for a while," he said.

Prayut said the budget for local elections has been used to fight the Covid-19 outbreak.

No local transmission in the last 21 days! I would have thought that the problem was over. It could start again when International flights restart from places like China.

two-faced; speaking out of both sides of his mouth; his mouth moves but nothing of value comes out; this guy never broke a public promise before, right ?

Local elections should not be under federal government control. This is the kind of federal government decentralization needed to advance a democratic society.

Right, but who wants to advance democracy?  ????  And local election results might embarrass the powers that be.

Come on guys they have only just finished adapting the count for his election......LOL

You are correct as always, but advancing those entitled morons who just want more are the focus of cha cha and fellow feinds.  Democracy in Thailand is for status and show only, not for fairness or making the country better.  If they wanted that, they would have an educational system that was like Vietnam's.  They just keep saying and doing dumb things because the world has too much going on to care.

I do not think too many governments in the world are enjoying covid, but I sure think that this is one of the few that is

Just avoid holding these local elections on November 3, there is a top US reality TV show scheduled for this day, that no one wants to miss...

Dont matter about local elections If the government puts up candidates they will all win? Waste of time They did not even win the national election but are still in government. Its like a horse race The horse that comes second actually wins the race. That is how it works lol You people who thought the horse that won the race comes first Well you are wrong lol That is not how it works in Thailand right?

so we can have enough time to prepare for another rigged election and make it look like a democratic one

They will need a lot to pay the organizers and ballot counters.

He might have a point?
