Thai BG married to a British Farang, Papers registered at the Embassy.

He lives UK and visits once or twice a year. (6 /8 weeks a year)

She lives Thailand and does not wish to re-locate. He originally promised to do so.

She wants a divorce, he does not.

Can she get a divorce if he does not want her to do so?

How long would it take?

What are the steps she would need to take? :o

Yes she can get a divorce without his permission.

The usual way is to say that he has not supported his wife financially for X months and the courts will grant a divorce in his absence.

Not sure how long the X months has to be, but think about 9 months.

Court cases take ages to be heard, expect to wait more than a year.

Thetyim,

Thanks for reply, my understanding was similar to your expressed view.

That the process could take up to two years. In that she meets the first of your criteria but that the court bit could take upwards of 18 months.

Was just hoping that there might have been an alternative that some of the more exprienced guys here might have known.

You are correct also, however the Jerk involved will not :o

has to be 1 year of nonsupport to get to court system then another 6-16 months to be final-takes time

Hi dr pp,

No,

It would appear that he has done this with at least one other Thai girl, (Marriage, no support, lengthy period of struggle and divorce), we discovered today that he may well have married two TG's, not one before, not including the present lady

It appears he may not be playing with a 'full deck' so to speak, but not so obvious that you catch it first time round.

If she can prove he was already married, then the court will anul the marriage pretty well straight away. No need to wait the 12 months or have to prove no contact.

He on the other hand will be put in jail if he steps foot back in Thailand again.
