The Rubber Authority of Thailand plans to propose on June 16 that the Bt5,000 monthly remedial cash be given to 143,700 rubber farmers for three months, Nakorn Tangavirapat, the authority’s deputy governor, said on Monday (June 15).

Meanwhile, the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) said that between May 15 and June 6 the bank had made payments totalling Bt35.726 billion to 7.145 farmers, adding that the second round of payments will start from June 15.

"Farmers who did not get the first round of payments will get Bt10,000,” a BAAC official said, adding that between May 18 and June 5, 191,146 farmers had filed 192,702 cases to ask related authorities to review their eligibility.

"Of the total cases, 169,597 have been sent to the Department of Agricultural Extension, 14,405 to the Department of Livestock Development, 1,655 to the Department of Fisheries, 6,806 to the Rubber Authority of Thailand, 215 to the Cane and Sugar Board, 20 to the Department of Sericulture, and four to the Excise Department," the officials said.

“Of them, 16,076 cases have been solved, 489 are being considered, and 176,137 have been forwarded to the committee in charge of considering eligibility.”

Farmers can check their eligibility at the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry’s website, www.moac.go.th, or check their Digital Farmer smart-phone app.

Meanwhile, the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry said that apart from providing remedial cash to farmers, the ministry has also offered help with debts, such as postponing repayment and or reducing or suspending interest worth Bt50.584 billion.

“We have also boosted farmers’ liquidity by reducing or suspending cooperative shares and land rents worth Bt2.763 billion," a ministry official said.

“The ministry has also provided jobs worth Bt4.497 billion to 88,838 farmers and increased agriculture distribution channels for goods worth Bt601 million.”

That's about 50,000 baht each. Is that a month wage, 3 months  or a year ? Being a footstool or holding a bin for 5,000 a month might be a little discomforting if a year

So, why aren't Thai massage gals lobbying the government for a 5k THB handout.  Everyone else is?

The majority of rubber farmers live south of Bangkok. Who do they mostly vote for? Can this be compared with the Shin rice subsidies? Guess it depends on which side of the fence you stand.

That's 5 million baht per...

I sure hope there's a translation error between thousands, millions and billions.

Where does all the money come from.

TAT spends I don't know how much , paying people to go on holiday.

They had a scheme not so long ago giving 1,000 baht off hotel rooms.

Every week there is another scheme announced to prop up the tourism sector.

We have the rubber , rice , palm , corn etc. farmers getting a hand out . ( Not saying they don't deserve it )

All the self employed getting there money every month.

The bill must run into billions of baht.

The baht never really weakens anymore .

Thailand must be one of the richest countries in the world.
