Pheu Thai party blames PM for postponement of local elections

Thailand’s opposition Pheu Thai party has blamed Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha as the main reason for the postponement of local election.

Opposition chief whip Mr. Suthin Klangsang today accused the Government of intentionally delaying local elections, pointing out that the existing Constitution does not have a chapter on decentralization.

He demanded that the Government clarify whether there will be local elections or not, as he dismissed the Prime Minister’s recent suggestion that both the Election Commission and the Interior Ministry should declare whether they are ready to hold the elections.

Pheu Thai Party, if they wished to gain acceptance and respectability in the emerging middle classes, should openly ditch all association with the renowned family in exile and concentrate on the Thai working classes. They do have a legitimate and serious gripe, the incredible wealth gap between the ordinary working man, the millions of rural agricultural masses, and the strutting few who took over power. With the level of corruption being exercised  by the previous government, they had to go, but the promises made by those presently in power have not been met, and in addition they have tried successfully to destroy any up and coming competition in what is laughingly called a democracy. Pheu Thai, clean your underwear and get in there !

Maybe Prawit has not had enough time to talk to them all.  Maybe they need an attitude adjustment.

good post and if as you say happened

I never thought I would say this but I hope they win - the lesser of two evils

This government not eager about elections? You don't say! 555

Disbanded FFP also aimed at local elections to give more strength to their agenda (including decentralisation). Maybe on the bright sight their new party now finds itself with some more time to prepare running in various places.

Oh, I think Prawit has all the "time" in the world ...

It is for him and his cabinet to announce, then the commission and ministry will get ready.
