‘Back to Healthy School’ campaign unveils education new-normal

The Education Ministry has launched a “Back to Healthy School” campaign to ensure students’ safety after schools nationwide are reopened next month.

Varavij Kambhu na Ayudhaya, the minister’s adviser, said on Monday (June 22) the remainder of the school year would be cut from 200 days to 180 days over two semesters – July 1 to November 14 and December 1 to April 10. Normally the semesters run between May 16 and March 30.

However, he said, schools were permitted to extend teaching time to compensate for the fewer days.

The Department of Health (DOH) is collaborating with the ministry to create a safety handbook for schools, with 20 points schools must implement if they want to reopen.

“We have checked all educational institutions and over 90 per cent have passed the DOH criteria” said Varavij. These include social distancing measures in classrooms and the provision of facemasks and sanitisers.

The adviser said that around 31,000 schools have room to ensure 1.5 metres between each student in classrooms, but that as many as 4,500 schools will need to limit student numbers. Some students will be allowed to study in the classroom, but others will be told to study at home via the ministry’s online courses.

The DOH and the ministry have also given guidance on school buses and canteens. Meanwhile, arrangement are in place to deal with any Covid-19 cases found in schools.

The number one priority should be to test students for the virus on arrival and at regular intervals thereafter, and immediately inform parents of any who test positive.

This is essential, particular for multi-generation households where a child who picks up the virus could pass it on to elderly relatives, with potentially fatal results.

WHY ????

children DON'T DIE from corona

99,99999 SAFE

this stupid plandemic has to STOP

those same KIDS have been with parents & grandparents for months !!!

58 deaths in 5 months is a joke as that is less than DAILY ROAD DEATHS

Where are the real reasons of those people that died?  My guess: chronic diseases, old gate, overweight, T2D, no sun, no exercise, unhealthy lifestyle

Patchy national testing means we don't really know whether the virus has waved Thailand goodbye or is waiting for our collective guard to be lowered.

We will find out the hard way when our children are free once more to mix with their school chums.

If my daughter picks up the virus, she may well suffer no ill effects. But if she passes it on to her old dad . . .

Surely better safe than sorry.

oh  no does  this  mean no  more  kids  unbelted in school  buses   hanging out of the windows, or  in those prehistoric rust bucket pickup buses hanging off the rear tailgate  platform or does it mean no more kids on bikes driving helmetless? which?

safe than sorry?

lockdown forever?

did daughter not spend time with other children or people the last 5 months ?

hysteria has taken over "normal" thinking

the new normal is:  be scared, be very afraid of everybody

germs will kill you

there are 100 trillion bacteria in YOUR BODY

As a teacher this bit worries me. Saturdays.

July 1 to November 14 and December 1 to April 10. Nov 14 and April 10 are Saturdays.

that's a long school year for those students who started online middle of May

Wearing a face mask is NOT healthy. It's very bad for your health. Whoever made legislation that children should wear a mask which causes harm should be asked to provide proof of claim that it doesn't. If they can't, they need to be held accountable for child abuse.

And, it's still officially okay to serve food at lunch that's been sitting out, unheated, for two hours. Maybe change that?

I assume your question about my daughter was meant to imply that if she were going to catch the virus she would already have done so.

The reality is you have no idea whether this is the case or not. Neither do I.  Which is why I would like schools to test all returning children and inform their parents of the results.

Better safe than sorry seems a reasonable attitude when one happens to be head of a household which includes several generations, including a vulnerable octogenarian.

I share your sentiments re the general hysteria generated around this particular pandemic. We've survived and prospered after worse.

we were informed in a special meeting yesterday that learning is a 2 -2 tango practice these days, 60%@school 40% @home with rigorous checks and the ones who fail to comply # home are dismissed........bit scary if you ask me, but it might be THE cure to get my son (16) away from gaming all day(when he is home), but tough.......
