It is appears unlikely that the state of emergency will be extended, when the associated executive decree expires at the end of this month. Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngarm said this morning (Tuesday) that the issue of extending the decree was not among the agenda for discussion by the Cabinet today.

“So, if the decree is not extended, there is no need for the matter to be discussed by the Cabinet and the decree will automatically expire on June 30th,” said Dr. Wissanu.

The decree was announced on March 26th, as Thailand imposed lockdown measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  It was extended at the end of April and again in May and is due to expire on June 30th.

There is now no reason to extend it further... schools re-opening, bars given the green light, how can they extend a decree that's doing nothing?

It is useful for keeping political rallies under control. To oppress students and the like. So its doing something just not helping against corvid.

Wissanu has proven time and time again his role is basically to say and do anything to protect the establishment.

If he says it may not be extended, it probably will be.

I agree to a point... but if the government banned a rally quoting Corvid as the cause they'd be laughed off the planet... 28 days with no infections it wouldn't stand up.

But, that's why we are supposed to fear all of those asmptomatic 20-somethings, right?

If no decree, then all COVID rules become voluntary?
