geovalin
Interior Minister Sar Kheng confirmed traffic accidents have reduced significantly compared to last year after the tightening of road traffic rules. According to Mr Kheng’s Facebook page, the number of road accidents from January 1 to June 30 this year decreased by 552 cases, or 25 percent, compared to the first half of 2019 where 2,171 were recorded. The number of deaths also decreased by 172 and only 778 injuries were recorded in 2020. As a chairman of the National Road Safety Committee, Mr Kheng said the data shows people are more cautious and are observing the traffic laws more vigilantly. “I would like to remind the authorities, as well as all concerned officials, to carry out their duties. They must continue to adhere to the code of ethics and be disciplined in performing their duties. Eliminate any negative behaviour and uphold the integrity of the police force,” he added. Kong Ratanak, director of the Institute for Road Safety, said yesterday that with the recent developments in the traffic law enforcement and the introduction of new penalties, everyone has become afraid of being fined. read more https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50740362/traffic-accidents-down-by-25-percent-sar-kheng/
