From their FB page back in March: The owner confirmed today that he has agreed to a significant reduction in the key money for the next 3 years which makes it more viable to stay in the current location. We also have a plan to further leverage the remaining key money which should lead to improving the bar. The options now are to advertise the bar for sale and hopefully find a buyer who can take over running the bar or take on additional partners. Don Mega
Sugar Shack Bar 18 March · The owner confirmed today that he has agreed to a significant reduction in the key money for the next 3 years which makes it more viable to stay in the current location. We also have a plan to further leverage the remaining key money which should lead to improving the bar. The options now are to advertise the bar for sale and hopefully find a buyer who can take over running the bar or take on additional partners. Provided we can find suitable partners Jon will continue running the golf and I will remain until the bar is running well. Due to the current financial climate, we will reduce the value of the bar to 800,000 Baht which works out as 200,000 for a 25% share. Though there may need to be a further payment depending on the remaining key money negotiations. As everyone is aware the exchange rate and coronavirus are having a serious effect on the Thai economy and particularly in Pattaya nightlife and it would seem likely that many bars will not be able to survive. Therefore we believe that any bar that can stay afloat for the next year or 2 will have a lot less competition once the world economy improves and with a few changes to the bar we expect the bar to turn a decent profit. We have a few ideas on how to improve the bar and if we get any serious interest from potential partners we will sit down to create a plan before moving forward. There is also still the option to move to another location in the future. Whilst the location of the bar is not the best, the convenience of being close to Walking street and being reachable from Beach rd and Jomtien, plus the fact that the road is easy enough to pick up and drop off golfers and is an open corner are benefits, though if a more suitable location becomes available at the right price we will consider it. If anyone is interested in being a partner or knows someone who might be a suitable partner we would appreciate it if you could pass the details on. scubascuba3
The problem is golf bars only really have customers for golf days, usually 3 days a week and often dead straight after the presentation when everyone legs it, so they struggle to stay afloat

As usual you're just a history lesson with little relevance to Pattaya these days. When was the last time you actually had a beer in the Sugar Shack?
