Investigations continue into cause of fire at major Pattaya landmark

Daily News reported that the owner of a major tourism landmark in Pattaya had made no public appearance or statement after a major fire at his facility.

Twenty fire engines took four hours to bring a fire in a Buddhist building at Baan Sukhawadee under control.

The billion baht attraction that features an ornate and colorful palace, temples and a restaurant was only opened to the public again on Wednesday.

Fire broke out in the Phuttha Boramee building. Police forensic investigators and the Pattaya city council were on the scene yesterday gathering evidence.

But smouldering in the basement of the building prompted fears that the fire may take hold again. The structure was deemed unsafe to enter and so the investigators just gathered evidence outside.

A person in charge and Burmese workers were interviewed.

Later workers from the facility sealed off the area.

Meanwhile Dr Panya Chotithewan the billionaire owner of Baan Sukhawadee had made no public statement and despite efforts by much of the media to contact him he had remained silent, said Daily News.

Dr Panya is known as the owner of Saha Farms, the largest chicken farm in Thailand, notes Thaivisa.

The owner didnt have time to comment, too busy getting in contact with the insurance company.

Yea, he chickened out. I suspect fowl play in this case.

Is that setting the scene for a scapegoat?

I see the place has been downgraded from a museum. (Or is that an upgrade?)

Seen him nearby a couple of times. Though not in the past week.

Oh, so you're going to duck out eh?

According to the wife they’re saying on Thai news this morning that the building wasn’t supposed to be built on that land, and the government wanted it torn down. Also that there’s three insurance companies with policies worth over 2000 million baht.

The owner must have everyone on side, and huge cajones. This one is definitely worth following.

You can expect a few more buildings to catch fire here in the near future, probably a few cars, also.

What sort of evidence can one gather outside?  An empty petrol can?  A box of matches?

they mentioned this place had a restaurant  ....

was fried chicken on the menu ....  crispy i would think.

Well at least the usual ferang Jack Asses can use their regular "Tee He" remarks again.
