Just got off the phone with Surin immigration

Just a quick report.

I have a non-o visa (spouse).  My stay is currently on COVID-19 extension, because they previously refused to do a spouse extension because of the automatic covid extension.  We were met in front of the office in Chom Chon with water and a polite refusal.  It was clear that they didn't want anyone inside the building, if possible.  Totally understandable.

I put 400k in the bank on June 1st.  Since August 1st I will be on overstay (and it's a Saturday), I called them again today to see if I could do a spouse extension tomorrow.  They said no....everyone must wait until July 31st.  I pointed out that they would be busy on the 31st...but they said that it is the government rule because of COVID-19.

They previously said that I must wait until August 1st, not July 31st, to do the 1 year extension.

I assume you meant you went to Kap Choeng not the border crossing at Chong Chom.

The 31st is a Friday which means the earliest they would be able to do anything is Monday the 3rd.

It think the amnesty will be extended for at least 30 days.

I hope so

Correct @ubonjoe

It was Kap Cheong Immigration...Surin's immigration office.

I do hope that it will be extended for 30 days.  It does seem likely that they wouldn't want a last minute crush, and would try to spread out the problem.

Rumors are rampant...but if they just saved me my 60 day extension for another rainy day...that would be great.
