Cambodia’s COVID-19 cases increase to 165 with additional nine passengers from Saudi Arabia tested positive

Featured Replies

Cambodia detected nine new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing thus the total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom to 165, the Ministry of Health announced in a press release this morning. According to the release, the new cases were found on nine Cambodian men, aged between 26 to 30 years old. They arrived in Cambodia on July 10 from Saudi Arabia via Malaysia.

They were on same flight with the 15 positive cases detected a few days ago. They were all admitted to Chak Angre Health Centre in Phnom Penh.

The other 70 passengers with COVID-19 negative test were required to continue their 14-day quarantine at a quarantine centre in the capital, it added.

The 165 confirmed cases include 93 Cambodians, 40 French, 13 Malaysians, five British, three Chinese, three Vietnamese, two Americans, three Indonesians, two Canadians, and a Belgian. Most of them are imported cases. Of the total positive patients, 133 or 80.61 percent have recovered successfully, said the press release. Since the first case detected in Preah Sihanouk province in late January, the COVID-19 pandemic has so far hit 13 provinces and capital of Cambodia.
