Extension of Stay - Initial 800,000 THB on Thai bank account for 2 or 3 month?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I am applying for the first time for a Extension of Stay within Thailand @ Pattaya.

I will send in the initial 800,000 THB from abroad.

Do we need the 800 k on our Thai Bank account for 2 month or 3 month before applying for the extension of stay?

I spent quite a while on research and it seems unclear. Thanks for helping me out here.

new rules last year, 2 months

All extensions require 2 months - but remember it must stay at or above 800k for the next 3 months and never go below 400k under the new rules.

Thanks for the quick reply !!

Thinking to use an agent to avoid the hassle, but she said it´s 3 month now before you can apply.

How do you know it´s only 2 month?

I apply for the first time.

Thank you for your kind advice

Unfortunately, not all IO's "interpret" the police order in the same way. Best to check with your local IO to be sure.

Think couple of F...up immigration office ask for 3. Not sure maybe Udon Thani on that list.

Check with your imm office.

Sorry just saw you deal Pattaya. 2 months

Does immigration accept money send into Thailand by Transferwise ?

Guess it´s up to the receiving Thai Bank wether they issue a letter confirming the money comes from abroad?

Yes they do. Whether they will be shown a foreign transfers or not depends upon the bank you are sending them to.

It is only required if you are applying for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration to qualify for a extension of stay based upon retirement.

If you already have a non-o visa entry then no proof it came from abroad is required to apply for the extension.

Never below 400k until next 1 year application when it has to be topped up to 800k again.

To be clear that "top up" to 800k needs to be done at least 2 months prior to application for next extension.

Easy to remember. 2 comes before 3. So 2 months before, 3 months after,
