I just went to renew my non b visa but instead of giving me 1 year they gave me just until March, that is, when my passport expires. I didn't know it would be an issue because I thought the visa could be transferred from an expired passport to a new one. Was it my fault or is it normal?

Also, my WP will expire on 31 July next year. So does this mean when I go to immigration in March next year I will only be able to renew my visa for 4 months?? And then, in July when I renew my WP I will have to renew my Non B again? This is 3 non B visa renewals in 1 year, absolutely insane. 

Just would like to know if I got screwed over at the immigration and what the procedure will be from now on, the same one I described or not. Thank you.

Immigration will only issue a extension to the day your passport expires. Been that way since 2013.

When you apply for a new extension with a new passport it will valid for a year.

You only need a valid work permit on the day you apply.

Happened to me also.

Last Nov renew my Non-B after initial 3 months with my passport (expired on Aug/20).

Being issued Non-B followed my passport expiry date.

So now I'm preparing documents to renew my Non-B visa.

(Really sad that my company lawyer who helped on visa issue never inform about this)

Next year Jan need to renew WP.

My initial WP issued only last for 3 months.

After 3 months, renew again be given 1 year.

Maybe my company too new/young to them. ????
