I know that a wp can be issued by most labour offices when you hold a Non O visa/extension ( married ) had one myself..

My question is has anyone ever been issued a wp when on retirement extensions.

The answer is really not for me but for a friend who is 54, on retirement but has been offered a job.

Some Imm' offices used to stamp 'work not permitted' and some didn't.

Does anyone have the experience of getting a wp when on retirement?

'A friend of a friend's best mate's friend I think got one' type of answer won't really help. ????

Edit.

Not a BOI company and at the moment going out of country for a Non B is not an option.

The Department of Employment will not normally accept a work permit application from those on a extension based upon retirement.

I have heard of one odd case of an office issuing one for teaching but it was only valid to the day his extension ended and he had get a new extension based upon teaching.

Normally it means leaving  and reentering the country to apply for the work permit.

Alternatively, instead of leaving/re-entering the country, would it be possible for Immigration to approve a change in the extension from retirement extension to a marriage extension if you meet the requirements for a marriage extension?

Yes

But at most offices you have to wait until your current extension is close to expiring to change the reason for your extension.
