On amnesty - possible extension based on Thai child

Featured Replies

HI guys,

Below is my situation :

  • Originally came into the country earlier in the year on a visa exempt
  • British
  • Extended first by 30 days
  • Then extended by 60 days (based on being the father of a Thai child)
  • Exit stamp 30th May (so on amnesty at the moment)

I know immigration have been told to assess case by case but my question is have I interpreted the announcement correct to say that I may be able to extend by 30 days for the purpose of visiting my child ? I'm trying to wait it out here until the land borders open again and consider options before I book a flight, as the general consensus seems to be this is the last amnesty extension.

Thanks in advance

The only extension you can apply for is a special 30 day extension with a letter from your embassy.

You could also apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa entry based upon being the parent of a Thai if can qualify for it. After getting it you could apply for a one year extension based upon being the father of a Thai.

Requirements for the visa application is here. http://bangkokimmigration.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/07.pdf

Thanks. And from what I understand embassies will only give letters for health reasons or if its not possible to return to passport country. ?! Both of those wont be applicable to me.

I don't think the embassies will be that difficult to get the letters. You should at least try.
