Govt’s tourism package nears target in less than 15 days

As of 9pm Wednesday (July 29), 4.65 million people had registered for the “Rao Tiew Duay Gun” (We Travel Together) government stimulus package since it was launched on July 15.

 

So far, 285,530 hotel rooms have been booked and 282,409 paid for in advance, while 55,177 persons had checked in and 50,605 checked out of hotels under the scheme.

 

The Rao Tiew Duay Gun campaign offers 40 per cent discount on hotel rooms for no longer than five nights to 5 million travellers. The campaign will run from July to October.

 

So far, 6,684 hotels, 58,744 restaurants and 1,590 attractions are participating.

My wife also registered, but doubt we are going anywhere.

 

282,000 rooms for a couple of night will generate 500 million baht, but when TAT is spinning the projection wheels, we are talking 6.8 billion baht is just one (long) weekend.

If I could only just get my wife and kids to travel. Not gonna happen. Guess will sit and be bored for the interim until my friends are able to visit me from the USA again.

I just went travelling and its damned good value !

Great hotels around 50 to 70% off.

Attentive staff happy to have a job  , great food at reduced rates.

Best of all , UNCROWDED Highways down here in the South , and the environment looking much cleaner !

The Tourist board seem to be doing well on this promotion

Need to extend it until December 2020

Then maybe foreign tourists might start arriving January 2021

Dependant on quarantine  procedures
