Tourism workers offered free English e-learning courses

The government is offering English for tourism e-learning courses to encourage students, tourism industry personnel, and the general public to develop their English skills. The move by the Department of Tourism follows an Asean agreement on standards for tourism workers.

 

Four e-learning courses – housekeeping, front office, food production, and food and beverage services – will help learners develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

 

People can apply for the courses at https://e-learning.dot.go.th.

 

Applicants must take a test before and after the course. Those who pass each course will receive certification.

Isn't it just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic, given English speaking tourism is not likely to resume for quite some time to come?

OK nice idea but who is going to pay all those people who lost their jobs? Most guides and people that I know don't get anything from the government. Are they allowed to sue the Chinese?
