Saraburi121
Never been to Loei so thinking about a road trip but read/watched news about the flooding and not sure how widespread. Planned to stay in downtown Mueang Loei then onward to Chiang Khan during next week then work our way to Nong Khai then back to Saraburi. Has the flooding affected travel in Loei? Haven't called any hotels yet and thought to get some info here before traveling. Bored out of my mind and ready for a road trip. From my house about 5.5 hours north to Mueang Loei. Recommendations to eat, stay or see in either area or in between are welcome. Yes I have google maps but are don't always show the "hidden gems" Love Isaan and all food with an appropriate beverage which is usually a cold beer. CGW
Rains were pretty much localised, I live on the west side of Udon, 45 minutes drive from "flooded" areas in Nong Bua, we have had very little rain, reservoirs still close to dry. I would add, if you are going to Loei, be sure to visit Erawan cave - a true gem! Edited August 5, 2020 by CGW
Saraburi121
Decided to postpone the road trip to Loei till after the rainy season. Would like to get out into the parks and explore so probably better. Erawan Cave does sound interesting.
Popular Post Damrongsak
Here are a few attractions: https://trip101.com/article/top-10-things-to-do-in-loei-thailand-natural-beauty The main town of Loei is pretty tame. Phu Bo Bit Forest Park is right close in if you happen to stay in town. Nice view from the top. We can see it from our back porch in town. Suan Hin Pha Ngam is interesting.

Thanks for the tips, saved the restaurant to my favorites. Some of the best food in Thailand comes from small shops. Sky walk looks like it is worth a visit.
