webfact
Pattaya: Major drainage works beset by problems but route expected to open in a week - or else! Picture: STV Pattaya Sophon Cable TV reported that the Pattaya city hall have apologized for repeated delays in major drainage works including pipe laying on Wat Sawang Fa Pritaram Road and Sai Pattaya Na Klua. Some 110 million baht was allocated from state budgets for the work that was supposed to be finished by March. There are still holes in the ground months later. Essentially the work is laying dual pipes over a 780 meter stretch from Sukhumvit to the Nam Chai intersection to join up with other drainage works. It is hoped they will help to solve Pattaya's appalling flooding problem. Banleu Kunlawanich, a deputy mayor, apologized for the delays that he blamed on contractors and a host of unforseen problems. He said that he had been on the case trying to speed up the contractors and that the mayor Sontaya Khunpluem would be fining them if there were any more delays. He said that if city hall had done the work themselves it would all be sorted by now. He was optimistic that the roads would be open in a week. petermik
Delays that he blamed on "contractors and other unforseen circumstances" so do they not have a works department that supervises over contracts such as this..or is that too simple...

'other unforseen circumstances' I thought the use of a fortune teller would have sorted this out. A few years ago it only used to be 20 Baht. Even so, I'm sure they could claim it on expenses - so long as it came with a money-back guarantee.

Popular Post phantomfiddler
A construction site anywhere similar to the one shown would be immediately shut down in any western country. Pipes full of broken concrete, backfill full of pieces of broken concrete, a complete shambles ???? 2

Sydebolle
The deal referred to "March" but they forgot the year!
Leaver
The easiest solution for the Mayor is to declare the pit a new dam, which will safe guard Pattaya against drought. Problem solved. That's why the Mayor earns the big baht. ????
