TM30: In system already, travelling soon

Featured Replies

Hi

I am in theTM30 system (having being fined last year and then reporting after an overseas stay late last year).

I am going to another province for a short break next week, and I know the hotel will ask for my passport and, presumably, will file it with the local Imm office.

Does my wife need to report (online or otherwise) to say I am back in my own house after the holiday?

I know the rules changed a few weeks back but just want to cover myself!!

Thanks to all.

JD

BUMP...  I’d like to know this.

Previously I’d never bothered with the TM30 as I knew I’d be leaving via the airport within 90 days, the airport don’t bother about the TM30 whereas any dealing with Immigration at Chaengwattana seems to involve a requirement to have filed your TM30 - obviously with Covid-19 its unlikely I’ll be travelling overseas soon and will thus need to file a 90 day report. I obviously want to avoid a fine for not filing my TM30 which I’ve done.

BUT.... what happens if I go to another province for a night and the hotel there files a report.

I need to file the report again when I return home after one night in another province? Right???

OR - does the updated / modified requirement no mean I only need to refile my TM30 if I return from an overseas trip????

Since June 30th a TM30 report is only needed if you change your registered address now. That is when a new immigration regulation went into effect.

I was at CW immigration office in Bangkok myself just a few days ago (5th August) and asked the Immigration officer to clarify whether a TM30 was still required if returning from an international trip abroad or a domestic trip within Thailand and was informed that a TM30 was now now only required if you return to a different address ... if you return to the same address then a TM30 was now not required.

As always with issues of this kind it is always a good idea to check with your local immigration office and ask them to clarify their local rules in place.

So, basically, if you

* have filed a TM30 report

* are in the system

* still live at the same address

you will NEVER have to do another TM30 report unless you permanently change address (ie move house)?

Is that what it all boils down to?

That's right.... But never say never... TIT!

But what if I want to take the missus to the seaside for a week? Living in Khon Kaen, visiting a guest house in Chonburi.

Would a TM28 be required?

No, I don't know what it is, just read something somewhere.

No

A TM28 change of address form is not needed unless you move to a new address.

Thanks Joe

OK Thanks to all concerned.

Hopefully, my next TM30 report will be when I permanently move address and no need to worry about filing a report when I return home either from a domestic trip or overseas!!

But, as garygooner says, TiT!!!
