For an appointment regarding marriage one of the questions on the above form asks "do you have health or medical insurance" 

Does anyone know why the uk government would ask this, why is it relevant to getting married? 

They used to ask same on all notary enquiries. HMG are/were allegedly collating stats which are then used as leverage (not necessarily in our favour) whenever the periodic in$urance drives surface locally.

This is not a fob-off, but you could make an online Freedom Of Information request to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and see what they say.

 

I would be interested in the answer if you asked them.
