A mobile application that will allow the public to search for missing persons should be available in September, according to the state committee tasked with developing the system.

The app will contain information to help people search for missing loved ones.

People will also be able to use the app to notify officials about missing persons and check for updates on cases.

sounds like a good idea, but hardly any information in the article at all, couldn't the 'journalist' have put in a little bit of effort? some background on missing persons in thailand, how things work at present, how exactly this app will help, interviews with relevant people, organisations etc. etc.

The reason that no information is given, is that the developer and the authorities already knows that the application is going to interfere with public safety and privacy.

Yes, I bet they won't publish a list of most searched for people using the app.

It would embarrass the government to see those included who have gone missing for political reasons.

Why is this even necessary? No one is missing in Thailand…the entire country is on Facebook and every account is updated several times an hour.

Does it tell you if the missing person in question is at the bottom of the Mekong?

I just downloaded the beta version, every time I enter 'Red Bull' the app seems to crash. ????

If the app can find the person, then he isn't missing, isn't it?

And how they find the person, are missing persons supposed to enter the details of their whereabouts in a database?

I think you'll need to search for 'police farce'

Will it be able to find Boss?

Next there will be a Bad Farang Man app.

Believe me I know.
