Schools ready for new normal education in case of second Covid-19 wave, says minister

Education Minister Natthapol Teepsuwan said on Thursday (August 13) that schools across the country are capable of practising the “new normal” in case there is a second wave of Covid-19 infections.

Most schools, including international ones, have started holding classes on campus as of this week.

Over the past four months or so, schools have been holding online classes, and after partially reopening, only some students were allowed to physically attend school in line with social-distancing measures.

The minister said schools nationwide were encouraged to collect students’ information as this was necessary for contact tracing to prevent new infections.

Natthaphol added that his ministry is planning new measures for schools located in border towns, because students from neighbouring countries are not yet allowed to return.

Meanwhile, traffic jams have returned now that students are attending school as per normal.

On which planet?

Has this minister ever walked outside his office?

In my area in Isaan, on planet Earth, there has been none of that: no online classes, no partial reopening, no special measures...only school as usual, save for the fact that the reopening was postponed to July 1st.

"The minister said schools nationwide were encouraged to collect students’ information as this was necessary for contact tracing to prevent new infections."

Bold plan and action! (sarcasm).

collect student information? Did they just let any kid walk in or out, school was like a bus station or Tesco?

damn, my child really loved the online thing ...  hardly any 'active" classes, lot's of free time (well, homework not included), one week out of two attendance ... traffic was also better, indeed

covid, give us your best shot at 2nd, 3rd, 57th wave please

Three months distance learning was utter torture. I have no idea how some manage to home school their kids.
