Two Thai women in hospital after COVID virus DNA found in their system

Two Thai women have been hospitalized for observation after traces of COVID-19 were found in their system, despite the fact that they were cleared of infection during their 14-days in state quarantine, prior to going home.

 

Disease Control Department chief Dr. Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai assured, however, that these cases are not regarded as the start of a second wave infections, because both used to be in state quarantine.

 

One returned to Thailand from the UAE on June 2nd and entered state quarantine. The first test, on June 5th, produced an ambiguous result with minimal virus DNA being detected. The second test cleared her of any infection.

 

On August 17th, however, she was tested again as she was about to go abroad and minimal traces of COVID-19 DNA were found. She was hospitalized for observation.

Are they going to test her every hour?

 

She'd better be back to quarantine for an extra week or so, rather than occupying a room in a hospital which should be reserved for really sick people.

Obviously hospitals don’t operate at 100% capacity!

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a process that amplifies (replicates) a small, well-defined segment of DNA many hundreds of thousands of times, creating enough of it for analysis. Test samples are treated with certain chemicals[14][15] that allow DNA to be extracted. Reverse transcription converts RNA into DNA.

Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) first uses reverse transcription to obtain DNA, followed by PCR to amplify that DNA, creating enough to be analyzed.[15] RT-PCR can thereby detect SARS-CoV-2, which contains only RNA. The RT-PCR process generally requires a few hours.[16]

Give it a rest geriatrickid. The PCR test does not detect any disease, it just detects a genetic sequence that apparently many have in them and are wrongly called “asymptomatic carriers/spreaders”, or healthy people that spread disease!

I am happy that more and more people can see through all this, and people like geriatrickid are left trying to explain the impossible.

Surely there is a cost difference all other things being equal. 

Since she's Thai the quarantine is totally paid by the gov. Maybe the hospital too, but wasting nursing/doctor time is an issue.

Only for a few people. 14 days or less is the norm. A few infected individuals may be released to go home due to this. I read one returnign Thai tested positive on day 13 of quarantine.

They press panic button anyway here in Loei! That woman had 2 kids secondary 2 and 6. Let's see what happen , hope not hole province go lock down lol. Even not be surpriced if that happen!
