BANGKOK(NNT) - The government’s economic recovery center has approved urgent measures to promote domestic tourism, encourage spending, solve unemployment, and provide better access to capital by SMEs. The center will next week propose to the Cabinet an increase in subsidies offered in the current Travel Together tourism campaign.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Supattanapong Punmeechaow, announced today that the government’s center for post COVID-19 economic recovery, has agreed to extend the current Travel Together tourism subsidy campaign, by further expanding the eligibility from individual persons to include corporations as well, increasing the duration of hotel stays from 5 to 10 nights, and doubling flight discounts from 1,000 to 2,000 baht.

The decision to increase the benefits offered in the campaign is due to a lower than expected number of participants, especially in remote provinces where only 10 percent of eligible persons actually made their trip.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand is now assigned to draft more details of the increased allowances, which will be proposed at the mobile Cabinet meeting in Rayong on 24-25 August for approval.

Meanwhile, the economic recovery center has approved financial measure allowing SMEs to have access to more sources of capital, and campaigns promoting employment among new graduates and unemployed persons affected by the COVID-19 crisis. These campaigns will be funded by the 400 billion baht Emergency Loan, and are expected to create 600,000 to 700,000 jobs in addition to the 750,000 vacancies currently available.

The center has also approved measures promoting spending among members of the general public, and called for related agencies to submit detailed plans on these measures in two weeks.

Socialism is a beautiful thing !

You just spend as much as you want and then think about who you have to steal the money from

to pay for it all ...

I wonder why in the past people actually had to work to get a salary when all of a sudden you can have all this

just because the Government says so ???

But, as they will brake up the monetary system as a whole anyway it is probably irrelevant how fast you go broke !

Nothing to see here - keep on dreaming about all the free stuff you can have [for a very limited period of time]

Scrambling to save a country that's going down the toilet, the government is in deep mire, borrowing like crazy to subsidise everything because the baht has killed the economy, tourism is dead with Covid for this year and most of next year, no more mass tourism, a few will venture around but not enough to help businesses stay afloat or keep the millions of tourism workers or the supply chain going.

The bubble has burst.
