The Hidden Gem of Khao Takiab Beach on Hua Hin

I am a big fan of Hua Hin. It seems to edge every other region by getting everything just about right, the local expats coin the phrase ‘The Goldilocks Effect’- not too much and not too little of everything. This, to me, is what makes it so appealing.

For starters, the air is clean, the beaches are clean and the water is clean. Perfect for my kids to enjoy themselves on the beaches here. There is a huge coastline to enjoy too.

One of my favourites is Khoa Takiab beach. Perhaps not the quite the traditional yellow sands but still absolutely wonderful. During the day you get the beach pretty much to yourself, yet in the evening the beach welcomes both local Thais and expats as they enjoy the beach without the strength of the day time sun beating down on them.

Nice review - as a resident of the area for 6.5 years, I note that the water pollution is not mentioned, nor the waste and black water floating down the creek, past the fishing village, in the picture's background.

Agree 100%, the filth near the fishing village is unbelievable.

Agreed, I like Hua Hin [selected areas] sometimes I push-on a bit further south to Pranburi, that's my favourite place to chill-out

I stayed in Hua Hin last year for a week and will be back there over the long weekend, that beach reeks when the wind is up. Not saying I know Hua Hin well, but will be heading for a day out to Ao Manao Beach again which is about an hours drive further on, well worth it if you leave at say 7.30am and get back around 5.30pm, only thing you have to watch out for are the looney drivers who sit on 160km plus, some tailgating, crazy stuff, but worth the drive to Ao Manao Beach for the day.

Jellyfish and garbage in the water with yucky pouring in from the land or buried pipes. Not a fan of Hua Hin at all. Perhaps a bit more south might be the best.

Yes and sadly the cement/concrete residue/waste from when they built the ferry jetty has contaminated the beach and turned it grey.

Sshhhhhhhhhhh! Keep it quiet Dan or it could get overrun and ruined!

....And the abundance of jelly fish during the rainy season which can give a very nasty sting!

.....And every Wednesday the beach is cleared completely and the beach cafes & bars closed which they should be every day since the army ordered it a few years ago. Wednesday must be army inspection day when they collect their brown envelope to turn a blind eye for the rest of the week...555.

Yeh, great to get under one of those straw huts, order your food and beer and let the kids play while mum takes a 2 hour cat nap...lol

However don't go there to swim

there is no depth, so you can walk in the sea on 1 km

and still to be in 20 to 50 cm of water depth.

Pefect for the small kids and the Thais (Most of them can't swim)

but a little bit frustrating for the foreigns adults
