I have a multiple entry visa based on marriage that expires 2nd September. I just received a new passport and will be applying for a 1 year non-imm O based on marriage on September 17th when my 400K is seasoned.

I already used up my single, 60 day extension and am now on amnesty. Is there any point in me rushing over to my local IO to get them to transfer my ME visa before it expires on 2nd Sept?

Immigration does not transfer visas. The only do a stamp that has spaces for info about the visa you used for entry and your old passport.

You could have your stamps transferred now or wait until you do your extension application.

Transfer of the visa information and the 60 day extension will have to be in new passport before you can apply for the one year extension of stay so allow extra time/copies if doing same day.  You can do the transfer stamps by yourself but wife will have to be with for the extension of stay application.

Hello,

How does it works if I get a new passport outside of Thailand?

When it will be possible to come back, will there be no problem when arriving at Bangkok airport with 2 passports, the new one without extension and the old one (cancelled) with my extension?

Will they stamp my new passport with the standard 30 days or with the expiry date of my extension on the old cancelled passport ?

Thanks

Show both passports on entry to use your re-entry permit in the old one and they will stamp you into the country to the day your extension expires in the new one.

Thanks a lot.

Did you experience it personally ?
Once in Thailand, I guess I will need to go to immigration for extension transfer too. And get a letter from my embassy first?

No But many others have and it is a standard procedure.

Yes for the stamp transfer. For the embassy letter it is a maybe since many offices will not require one if you have already used your passport for entry to the country.
