Mixed Spice

Does anyone know where to buy Mixed Spice in Pattaya. I've looked in Friendship and Villa and tried Tesco Online. No joy.

As a matter of interest I tried Tesco UK and they stock it. I know you can make your own but that is a pain when you only want a small amount.

If specifically after Schwartz, I would try TOPS at Central Festival.

Schwartz: Cinnamon, coriander seed and nutmeg.

MDH: Coriander seeds, Cumin, Red Chillies, Turmeric, Black Pepper, Iodised Salt, Dried Ginger, Mustard, Fennel, Seeds, Garlic, Cassia, Fenugreek Leaves, Cardamom Amomum, Cloves, Nutmeg, Green Cardamom, Mace, Asafoetida.

I never found any Mixed Spice (I was making mince pies).

Made my own

Mixed spice,
4 cinnamon + 4 Nutmeg +2 mace + 1 cloves + 1 coriander + 1 ginger + 1 Allspice
Just used the 4 spices I had and it tasted OK.

Didn't use the 3 I crossed out ........ too expensive.

Mixed Spice and Allspice are two completely differing mixes.

Cloves cheap from the Indian shops. In fact I bought a packet of mixed spices very cheaply there. Has a bit of everything in it.

If in Pattaya; on Soi 16, Sai 2. There are two Indian shops there. I bought the loose spices from the smaller, furthest away from Sai 2. I buy other ingredients from the other one, such as Basmati rice.

Thanks, I'll pop into TOPS today for the Schwartz mixed spice. The one in Tesco UK is Schwartz.

If no joy, try the Indian shop described above, for a small amount of individual spices. Get yourself a mini grater from the 20 baht shop. It will still likely cost less than a single container of Schwartz ready made.
