webfact
Warning to parents after three year old puts a watch battery up his nose Picture: Thai PBS The director of a hospital in the south of Thailand has issued a warning to parents to watch their young children after an alarming case. A three year old was found to have a round watch battery embedded in the area of the sinus cavity. Membranes had been killed off but doctors at Sichon Hospital in Nakhon Sri Thammarat managed to locate the source of the problem just in time. Had the battery become dislodged and entered other areas death was a possibility. Director Dr Arak Wongworachat went on his personal Facebook page to warn parents about children stuffing small objects up their noses. The advice is to make sure that small objects are kept well away from children up to the age of three. lemonjelly
Lucky he didn’t swallow it, those button batteries burn through the stomach wall in no time. It’s usually too late by the time it’s diagnosed. The public need to be made aware of the dangers of these things, they’re everywhere, especially in cheap Chinese toys
