This handout from the Royal Thai Government taken and released on September 1, 2020 shows Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha speaking at a briefing on the Red Bull heir’s hit-and-run case at the Government House in Bangkok. – The case against Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, the Thai heir to the Red Bull billions accused of a fatal hit-and-run was “compromised” from beginning to end, the premier’s office said September 1, calling the entire procedure “illegal”. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has vowed to stay on, despite calls from opposition MPs for him to step down, as he thanked them for not suggesting he attempt to escape legal proceedings, in an apparent snub to former prime ministers who have fled Thailand.

Addressing MPs at the end of the debate in Parliament, at about 3am on Thursday, the Prime Minister said that he was ridiculed and insulted by opposition MPs throughout the one-day debate, but he would tolerate them “because I always treat you with respect and have never used such language to you.”

He specifically mentioned the word “dictator”, which was repeatedly aimed at him throughout the debate by the opposition MPs. The Prime Minister brushed aside the opposition MPs’ calls for him to step down, saying that he still has a job to do for the people and the country.

Respect baby, respect.  I respect you all.  And please, direct all questions to the cardboard cutout after I leave.  :wink:Index1.jpg.5783dd3b4143b8789e195435a40eb59e.jpg

I was under the impression it was a banned word and posts' mentioning it would be deleted.

Looks like it's one rule for us and a different one for the Rich' Potatoes.

<For the hard-of-learning: The text above may contain traces of sarcasm>

If this is openly being discussed in Parliament in such a pseudo polite society that is Thailand, this guys days are numbered.

You 'had' a job to do and you failed miserably a long time ago.

It's time to let the country move forward. You aren't Thailand's saviour and you never were. No one asked you do be in this position. You keep telling us that you're taking one for the team - well, the team doesn't want you.

Enjoy all the money you siphoned off, and if you're lucky, you'll be able to enjoy that sweet release of death before legal proceedings against you begin.

Your. Days. Are. Numbered.

I think my Friday nights need to be filled with his songs again, don't you all.  But Alas, I can not order the booze to drink as I listen to his soothing voice, and learn all about becoming happy again.

Surely has has done more than enough damage to Thailand, and Thailands reputation abroad.

saying that he still has a job to do for the people and the country.

A bit like an old, worn-out and tired company CEO stubbornly hogging his chair.

Everybody wants him gone and gossips about him behind his back. He no longer brings value to the firm and only uses up unnecessary funds by way of his salary. His decisions are lukewarm and never actually carried out as nobody sees any benefits in them. He has become a burden and embarrassment to the company and its reputation. Yet he is caught in the delusion that he is an invaluable asset and that the company cannot survive without him.

The only difference is that a responsible board of directors could simply fire him.

He has indeed, we're still waiting for the end to corruption which he promised 6 years ago, and as yet it seems to be work in progress with no end in sight, a bit like his leadership.

The logic is irresistible. How would we all fare sans Chan o cha? Is he still a real general?

Personally I think he did a marvellous job with COVID-19, but he is now snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with his, almost lunatic, reopening of the country. He seems unable to resist the siren calls from TAT to allow anyone to enter the country who has a back pack and enough time to spend in ASQ.

The Logic is as follows.....I am a European traveller.....I get 40 days holiday a year but 10 of those days are Christmas, Easter and and handfuls of odd days leaving me 3 weeks to take together. My choice is do I go to Greece where I get the chance to meet lots of nice migrants on the islands and possibly get stuck in a war between Greece and Turkey....or do I come to Thailand to spend 14 days cooped up in a room in Stalag 14 with iffy aircon, in a bad hotel, at extortionate rates, then have a week to hang out if I don't catch COVID in the bad hotel. As the cabinet have no doubt noticed, the choice a very close run thing, I can tell you. I have been mulling this over for weeks and weeks now, and learned yesterday that there are, in fact, other places besides Greece and Thailand that a tourist can go.

Thailand is number 121 on the list of number of COVID infections. It appears that it is also number 121 of destinations a reasonable tourist may wish to visit, especially after I contact the Thai embassy in London to try to get a CoE.
