For people living, say, 50km away, that 100km round trip and will be well over the 20 Baht cost of the ID card.

On the other hand, you shall never underestimate the worth of 10 baht khao neo and 2 x 5 baht Moo ping.

Blumpie
This is hilarious. Rather than be genuine and welcome stranded tourists and encourage Thais to make them feel at home, they ostracized them. They want them to carry around foreign resident cards? ???? It's like Germany in world war 2. What's next, are you going to have a white arm band on your right arm? This is like showing up to your daughters graduation just as she's walking up on the stage drunk, falling over on an old lady and puking on her granddaughter. The Thais are as welcoming as... well, Thailand!
DrTuner
Pink ID too? I need to change my address, this massive saving could afford me half a Chang.
khunkarl
Again throwing pennies to the people.. The most baffling recent move by the govt was to give a 50% discount on traffic violations, like driving without a license and also failing to stop at a red light! If anything, people need things like lower utility costs, not nonsense like this!
