NoshowJones
Is it possible to get a DVD player that works of the USB port on a laptop?
Oldie
You get them for next to nothing. Look at Lazada for instance.

DaLa
I believe this one is an Asus, , can't say whether it's good or not so good, works at read and write, about 1000 baht or even less. Connects to USB. You can find them everywhere in tech markets. 862030B2-3EFD-4A90-B47C-ADDF187A0DDF.heic
tomazbodner
Just as side-note: if it has a problem (uses too much power), it may come (or else be available for purchase) a Y-type cable which uses 2 USB ports, one for power+data, and the other one for power only. That's not an issue with USB-3 ports, but older USB-2 ports may have insufficient power to drive it. And then of course there are models that require additional power brick. Most Asus, LG, Pioneer drives work OK. Samsung and Sony didn't last. Never tried noname ones like OEM favourite RAMBO...

He can use a powered USB plug (hub) if he has only 1 port or if the ports don't have enough power. Edited September 21, 2020 by Oldie
recom273
Be careful of those DVD burners from Lazada - I bought one for 250B, it was as strong as a packet of chips, the thing took forever to recognise discs and then had a slim success read percentage. I binned it and would think about a slightly more expensive one that is designed to fit in a PC, use a sata to usb and find a caddy or just leave it naked.
