School sacks teacher caught assaulting kindergartners, offers legal help to parents in prosecuting her

A school in Nonthaburi province on Friday apologised to the parents of kindergarten students who were subjected to physical abuse by a teacher.

 

 

Sarasas Witaed Ratchaphruek School has also offered legal assistance to the parents whose children were ill-treated by the teacher.

 

This week, a group of parents found their children unhappy about going to school and had wounds on their bodies.

 

These incidents made them reach out to each other. On Thursday they approached the school authorities and suggested using a CCTV camera in the children’s classroom.

 

The video showed the children being physically assaulted many times by a teacher, who was named as Onuma Ploadprong. The teacher reportedly banged the children's heads on their desks, pushed them to the ground, and twisted their ears until they screamed in pain.

 

Other teachers too did not stop Onuma from abusing the children.

 

The school said Onuma was called for questioning and sacked after she confessed to her actions. The school said that it would punish other related persons as well.

 

The school representatives and parents have filed a complaint at Ratchaphruek Police Station in Nonthaburi on September 24.

 

The school also informed the parents that it would facilitate prosecution of the teacher and other related persons by providing a legal team.

 

More solutions will be discussed with the parents on September 29.

Unbelievable, how could anybody treat small children like that.

That disgusting woman not only needs jailing, but also should get help from a shrink, behaving like that is not normal, appears she has some mental problems.

Unfortunately is is believable and a lot of people think that is the way to treat children of any age.

And unfortunately there are many parents who accept or even support "teachers" who act like that.

 

Obviously it is wrong and and leave physical and psychological wounds. But lots of people are too stupid to understand the long time consequences.

Why has school not been shut down?

The administrators are responsible for the actions of the employees, and should be prosecuted.

The other teachers who knew and did not intervene to protect the students and report the behaviour are as guilty as the teacher who was sacked.

 

Congratulations  to the collective efforts and outcome so far. That the School Administration is  supportive of prosecution strikes me as a first !

Dumb post. The school probably employs dozens of teachers with thousands of students. You want to put all those teachers who had nothing to do with this, out of work and all those students left with no school to attend over the actions of one woman and a few who ignored it? Sack all the admin staff, the maintenence guys, the cleaners and cooks?

All I know is, in the videos I saw of the woman "teacher" abusing the small children in her care, there were several other adults seen walking about in the same classroom at the same time -- and doing nothing and not even seeming to care or notice as the one "teacher" was pummeling the little kids.  That ought to tell you something about what was going on there.

 

The school took the trouble to get actual evidence so that the teacher could get sacked and not moved to an inactive post or another school. The school deserves praise for being proactive and getting actual evidence so the teacher can be sacked, prosecuted and have to pay damages. 

What's happened....not the usual cover up ,needs to happen

at more schools and other institutions ,too many cover ups

here,responsibility needs to be taken...

The school fires the teacher and helps the parents with legal actions, they are looking at the other teachers too. What more do you want them to do? Shutting down the school will give problems for the kids during a school year.

Once this came to light, the school management appear to have acted quickly and decisively. 

 

How many classes, how many pupils and how many teachers are at the school?

 

And you seriously think the school should be closed, and all those people affected, because of the actions of one person?????

 

I wish all schools in such cases would act so decisively and follow the law.

The administration needs to stand aside at the very least, new administrators brought in , a complete audit of all teachers and their behaviours towards the students.

Cameras installed in each classroom for student safety and ongoing skills audit of teachers.

How long has this behaviour been known about and tolerated?

 

The Woman has mental problems most likely caused by her own upbringing as large numbers of Thai Kids are subjected to brutality in their homes and grow up thinking it is normal to treat Children this way.   This far more common than we would perhaps like to think and it is usually happening not far from where we live.   It won't be happening in every School of course but there are plenty where it will be happening for sure.

So it would appear the school acted very quickly, instalilng cctv to gather evidence, then dismissing the teacher on the grounds of this evidence.

This is normal in Thai schools.

If I was a cynic I would say that's to avoid the school facing legal action itself.

Good for the school. You are right of course. Rule number 1: CYOA.h

 

I suspect a lot of this sort of thing results in brave boys and men beating and killing girlfriends. They think it's what is acceptable. Starts at home and school. Kids see it, and copy what they see....
