October 5, 20205 yr Saw this at a popular expat mall in a beach area (non island). Is this insight into tourism in Thailand?
October 5, 20205 yr There's a typo! Either the dot is supposed to be after the 5 or the word "set" should be replaced with "trap"
October 6, 20205 yr Have you never been into Dukes? If that was for a group that would be about right in that restaurant, IMO. Edited October 6, 20205 yr by thaibeachlovers
October 6, 20205 yr i like seeing the tourist "adventures" around Thailand. It's for about 60,000 baht (quoted in foreign currency) for 10 nights and food and transportation. they will take you to places where "no tourists go".......which is ironic since they are tourists 5,000 for that??? yes, farang, give me five of those!!!! now where tip??? give me 5 more mr farang. good luck. wai wai. kap kap.

I made the transition from my house being on a cattle ranch in the US to Hang Dong in 2006. I couldn't really justify paying 5x for steak, which is pretty easy to cook. A KG of Thai beef tenderloin was under 400 then, too. But, the more I got to know about it, the less likely I became to visit. Did try the highly acclaimed pizza once, it was a soggy mess. Be careful of touts for western food, who haven't been home in a decade or three. Just redid my steak math..was laying 6 usd per pound of usda choice tenderloin at my local IGA...so that would be 80 thb for a 200 gram steak...I would guestimate that would be 800 there + 17.7%...so it is actually 10x. October 6, 20205 yr The powers that be (lol, dear me) would have that a reality. It is their dream. They have dreamt a Thai/Singapore and will do whatever it takes to get it to the complete detriment of the real people of Thailand. Thousand baht dishes would be the norm.

True...or even KL...very expensive for a simple bottle of average beer in a bar. Even as a non smoker, I hate to see the cig taxes/prices racheting up...pretty obvious what comes next. Kind of reminds me of a casino town gone bust from eliminating F & B deals, except there has never even been a casino here. Numerous similarities in entertainment areas of Las Vegas and Bangkok. Both were built on cheap food and drink, both were ruined by corporate greed and delusional politicians. Edited October 6, 20205 yr by moontang
