A woman was killed after a car rammed her motorcycle, knocking her off a bridge on Ratchadapisek Road in Rama 3 area on Wednesday while the car driver jumped into a taxi and fled, only to return later and surrender to police.

At 1am, Bang Phong Phang police and paramedics from King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital found the body of Supalai, 30, at the accident scene.

Her body was covered in blood, while her face was disfigured from major injuries.

A witness at the scene told police the driver, who appeared to be drunk, came out of the car immediately after the accident and grabbed a taxi, while the passenger drove the car and parked it in adjacent Nonsi alley.

He led the police to the alley, where they found the parked bronze Toyota.

Forensic officers found hair, presumably belonging to the victim, on the crashed side of the car.

Two hours later, at 3am, the driver returned to his car and surrendered to the police, confessing he quickly left the scene after panicking. There was no word yet about the passenger who drove the car into the alley.

For fleeing make it manslaughter, time to make it illegal.

How will this be handled differently from the RedBull Case ????

By not riding a motorcycle at night the majority of the risk when riding a motorcycle in Thailand is massively reduced.

So many drunk people on the roads a night - it's just too risky to ride as this lady’s family have sadly found out.

Not quite, as most people will metabolize alcohol, or get it out of their system, at a rate of about .016% per hour. This is known as your “burnoff” rate, and there is no effective way to speed it up. Burnoff rate refers to how quickly your body can break down alcohol and remove it from your blood, also known as metabolizing it. So after two hours .032% would have been burned off.  The legal limit here in Thailand is 0.05%, which means you are legal if there is no more than 50 mg/dl of alcohol in your blood, and can be arrested if over 50 mg/dl.  Possible he might have been under the .05% at the time he returned but quick math and a test would show he was either on the downside or still going up, and at the time of the accident would have been above the legal limit.   Arrest his rear end for manslaughter at the least.

RIP to the other 59 to die also that day

These people have no shame whatsoever, kill a motorcyclist and do a runner, the fact he returned carries no weight, not in my book anyway.

RIP young lady.

unlikely. the body matabolizes about 0.1 mg 0/00 of alcohol per hour. so if he's found to be under the limit 2 hours later, alcohol is unlikely to be the main cause of the accident.

Right, panicking my a**, but alcohol. This type are amazing. They kill⚰️one today, next night they drink to forget what they have done the night before. And of course drive while drunk again. ????

It’s too risky riding during the daytime as well, if your riding in Bangkok or any other major city. I wouldn’t do it and I grew up riding all kinds of motorcycles.  After twice almost colliding with wild animals on my Harley, I decided to avoid riding at night as much as possible. Factor in drunk drivers and the sheer number of vehicles and other small motorbikes on the road and it becomes a no-brainer.
