webfact
Tak tightens entry for truck drivers after three from Myanmar test positive By The Nation A medical team from the Public Health Ministry visits the Mae Sot district in Tak province to check for possible infection risk. No Myanmar driver would be allowed to enter Mae Sot district, Tak provincial Governor Suphaphimit Paorik said on Sunday, while ordering officials to keep an eye on truck drivers who are now allowed to enter Thailand for only up to seven hours. Any stay beyond the stipulated time will entail 14 days of quarantine. The Public Health Ministry said three Myanmar drivers had tested positive on October 9-10 after delivering goods at Alee and Singha Rung Rueang warehouses. Seventy-four Thai people, who were exposed to them and may carry risk of being infected with Covid-19, are undergoing RT-PCR tests and in quarantine at home. More than 100 people have been tested and results are awaited. Meanwhile, a health official has urged local people to undergo tests if they had visited risk areas. The health official warned that bringing foreigners illegally into the country would increase the virus risk for Thailand and asked for cooperation to report any illegal entry to the police or a health official immediately.
