I currently have An Extension of Stay based on Retitement "O" obtained via Jomtien and due for renewal at the end of January.

We are going to move to Si Sa Ket, register the marriage and live at the wife's family home and am considering changing from Retirement to Extension based on Marriage, also enabling me to apply for a WP.

Clarification is sought for the following:

1. Do I need to lodge TM28 (change of address) & TM30 or does latter need to be done by the house master (wife's father) at Si Sa Ket? He is incapacitated & wonder if a Power of Attorney form should be used to enable my wife to be to lodge it

2. To register the marriage, do the Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage, and copy of passport that I will have translated to Thai also need to be MFA certified?

3. Are witnesses at the Amphor required to be non related?

4. Once Marriage Certificate is issued can I get a Yellow Tabien Baan?

5. I have ubonjoe's list of docs required for Extension based on Marriage - is there a separate form to state "reason for change" other than the TM7?

6. Regarding the Bank Guarantee Letter that I bank with them (Bangkok Bank, Jomtien) bank statements and updated passbook, if these are suppose to be dated the same day as the day I apply, how do I get around this as my Bangkok bank branch is in Jomtien a 7 hour drive away?

7. Do I need "certified" copy of my Aus bank statements showing transfers over the last 12 months?

Lastly, if I only do a change of address, can I still get a Yellow Tabien Baan so I can open a bank account locally?

Thanks in advance...

1. If your wife is registered in the house book she could do the TM30 and attach copies her ID card and house book registry to it.

2. The translations have to be certified by the Department of Consular Affairs of the MFA in Bangkok. The consular officers signature on your no impediment marry document.

.3 Normally yes. But they can be anybody since the are just witnessing your signatures.

4. You could but it will take more than your marriage certificate. Each Amphoe can have their own requirements so best to ask them in advance of applying for.

5. No

6. Any Bangkok Bank branch can do the bank letter. Same for updating your bank book.

7. If using the transfers to prove your income of 40k baht you will only need 12 months of bank statements from Bangkok Bank. But you will also need proof of the source of your income. If using the 400k baht in the bank option there is not need to prove where it came from.

Your wife should be able to help you with opening a bank account by being your reference and showing her house book and ID card.

Just a reminder about the 12 months bank statement from Bangkok Bank. Normally they only issues a 6 months bank statement and they have to get the 12 months bank statement from head office. This can take up to 1 week at some branches.
