Four Taiwanese men charged over $10 million drug bust

Phnom Penh Municipal Court charged and jailed four Taiwanese men in Prey Sar prison yesterday accused of possessing and transporting more than 2,000 kilogrammes of drugs. Court spokesman Kuch Kimlong identified the four accused as Chen Chih Chieh, Zhan Qi Zhi, Yu Yao Tsung, and Chen Pao Jiun.

 

Kimlong said they were charged with two counts of  “drug possession, transportation and production” under Articles 40 and 38 of the Law on Drug Control, and face a life sentence in prison each if convicted.

 

He added they have been sent by the investigating judge to Prey Sar prison pending the trial. According to the police report, they were arrested on October 7 in Preah Sihanouk province.
