pabloporn
Hi there I would like to buy a Google Pixel 5. I'm in BKK. How do you recommend to proceed? Any idea how much can be the import fees? Thanks!

On Amazon they are for sale from the UK but very expensive, over 1000$ and then comes shipping/import fee's on the top. I think you will have to wait a bit longer. I bought my last phone (Poco F1) from Lazada and never had any problems. I am also interested in the Google5 but I want the XL, the 5 is a bit on the small size for me. Please keep us updated if you find a place to buy one, thanks.
scammed
its same spec as oppo a9, (8GB RAM 128GB ROM) which cost 6800 baht on lazada, but oppo has 25% bigger battery, 5k vs 4k mAh, so it depend how long you are willing to wait on an inferior phone, and possibly how much the total cost is for that phone, and how much of a stink it raises for you to run out of battery juice Edited October 24, 2020 by scammed
guzzi850m2
Well the Google has very good cameras with very good AI technology. Further Google phones are very safe to use, they will get updated as soon as Goggle release an update, other brands are much slower to get it, depending on brand. Oh yes, 5G as well. Both reviews below gives it a 4 star rating. https://www.techradar.com/sg/reviews/google-pixel-5 https://www.digitaltrends.com/cell-phone-reviews/google-pixel-5-review/

If you need 5G in next years it makes a big difference. - The screen of the Pixel is far better than the Oppo one. The Pixel get an Oled 430ppi x2340 against only on Oppo an IPS 270ppi x1600. - The Cpu of Pixel is one generation newer and faster 2.4 against 2.0 MHz - Etc. Main point for me is that it's a Google phone. That means quick updates on Android and Google Apps taking the best of this phone. Also no hassle with the many Apps that you can't remove from most other brands. I already got an older Pixel before, and think in buying another one ????
jackdd
Wait a few weeks until it's actually available, currently it's difficult to get even in USA or Europe, or only for a significant mark up.
pabloporn
thanks for the replies. about the phone itself, I know it is expensive. the poco 3 nfc has MUCH better specs but lacks EIS. lot of < THB 7k phones can be flashed with Pixel Experience ROM too, but as @Pattaya46 pointed, having Google support is a huge thing. about the logistics; is it possible to buy it -for instance- on google AU? is there a recommended PO Box? thanks! jonga80
Hello, I have bought a Pixel 5 in Tree Mobile in MBK. 24500 bahts in the shop, in Lazada is 600 more. Ok, now I was at home doing the setup, and I see the charger is american. I know I need an adapter to thai plug. My doubt is about the voltage, I read in the USA the voltage is different. jackdd
Afaik the standard Thai and US power plug are identical, what is off with yours? Phone chargers usually support 110-230v, that should be written on the charger itself.

jonga80
Thanks for the advises. Ok I bought an adapter and it works well. Jack the plug I have is not the same of Thailand. So maybe the plug in this phone is not us standard, I don't know. It's like this the AU plug, so maybe the phone is imported from Australia? I thought was american. I thought was american. That AU plug is unusual, usually in Thailand they have the US or EU type plugs. I find that the US plug prongs are the most secure in the plug socket here. As you say perhaps the phones were imported from AU but best to contact tree mobile shop who sold the phone and confirm with them. Check this article, Australia is one of the few countries in the world where the PIxel 5 was launched so it could have been imported from there. www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-5-out-of-stock-some-countries/ Edited December 28, 2020 by userabcd
