ScotlandtheBrave
I take Tetracycline daily to prevent or mitigate staphylococcal skin abscesses, but in the past few days I have tried more than eight pharmacies and there is no stock to be found. Anyone know if there is a problem with supplies? I usually get the one called Ganospec in a yellow box.
Sheryl
Doxycyline, which is a form of tetracycline, is available everywhere and has more convenient dosage schedule. Not much demand for plain tetra since doxy does the same thing more ocnveniently
ScotlandtheBrave
Thank you for your reply Sheryl. When I first moved to live in Thailand nine years ago I had been on Monocycline for several years, but of course could not find it in Thailand. I tried the Doxycycline but found that it actually increased my susceptibility to sun burn, so much so that even just walking down the road, complete with hat, my chin, nose and cheeks would burn. Then I moved on to Tetracycline and the sun burn stopped and all has been good for the succeeding years. It is a mystery to me why the stock of Tetracycline have suddenly disappeared, and just wondering if there is a problem with supply.
Sheryl
It would nto be a supply issue as there are many brands. Where in Thailand are you?
ScotlandtheBrave
I am in Pattaya, and heading to Bangkok on 12th for four nights. I go every six months and always go to a good cheap pharmacy there called S C Pharmacy so I am hoping they will have stock of Tetracycline, but I will run out a few days before that. Sheryl
Have you tried Fascino's in Pattaya? If no luck there then indeed should be able to find in Bangkok. Besides the pharmacy you mention, there are 2 on either side of the street on Soi Onnut about 50-75 meters in form Sukhumvit that both stock a lot of local generics and would be good placed to try
ScotlandtheBrave
Yes I have tried Fascino in Pattaya, and they don't have any Tetracycline. I shall hope for a better chance in Bangkok. Thank you for your help.
