Tuesday, 29 Sept 2026 gave the world a whole new meaning and example of MAGA Dumb.

In a Senate Hearing with former SC Jack Smith, a Senator from Missouri named Eric Schmitt thought he had a Gotcha Moment with Jack Smith. Instead, he was made a fool live on C-Span and now gaining "views" on YouTube. If the Senator had any self-respect, he would resign and go do something of which he is more suited, such as pouring Slurpies at a 7-11 at a truckstop on Interstate 70 in Kingdom City, Missouri.

Sen Schmitt, in questioning Jack Smith, went down a hole he now wishes he had avoided. He began questioning Smith about Smith attending a basketball game in Atlanta Georgia on 3 February 2024. That was a time when a prosecutor for the State of Georgia, who had been investigating Trump's pressuring of Georgia SecState Raffensperger to "just find me...11,780 votes" (which did not exist), had been found to be having an affair with an investigator (as if that changes the recording of Trump's phone call somehow). It seems, though no one can know for sure what insanity lives in the mind of a Trumper like Sen Schmitt, that Sen Schmitt was trying to link Smith with the Fani Willis affair, as if being in Atlanta on the day before the affair became public is relevant in any way.

Anyway, on 3 February 2024 there was an NBA basketball game in Atlanta between the Atlanta Hawks and the Golden State Warriors. The Atlanta team's name---Hawks---is relevant, so please keep that in mind.

Sen Schmitt not only accused Jack Smith of attending the game, but accused Smith of perjury for denying he was at the game and in Atlanta. Sen Schmitt's staff had made some large and colorful storyboards, where it tried to link Smith being at that Hawks game, (Jack Smith was given about three seconds to see the posters, but hardly enough time to read and understand them; Sen Schmitt just wanted to show them to get them put into the Congressional Record). Jack Smith continued to deny his attendance at the game, which had Sen Schmitt thinking he had Jack Smith dead to rights. He did not. Sen Schmitt ended his questioning by calling Jack Smith a "dirtbag", something that undoubtedly would please Trump.

Over the next few minutes, the picture became more clear and the abject stupidity of Sen Schmitt became clear for all the world to see. It's now a forever part of the Congressional Record.

The State of Missouri has a nickname of "The Show-Me State". Probably Sen Schmitt wishes nobody would show anybody his silly storyboards ever again. Here's why:

Jack Smith DID attend a basketball game on 3 February 2024, but not in Atlanta. The game was a women's college game in Maryland between the Maryland Terrapins and the team of a then-famous female collegiate basketball player named Caitlin Clark. Ms Clark played for a college in Iowa called the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Sen Schmitt and his staff were both so dumb and intent on getting Jack Smith, that they confused the professional Atlanta Hawks with the women's collegiate team of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Oh my!

Gilda Radner used to do a skit on Saturday Night Live (available on YouTube) as a character Rosanna Rosannadanna, where she vehemently attacked an issue, only to have it pointed out she was confused by something that sounded similar. Once corrected, she would end the skit by sheepishly saying, "Never mind". Yesterday was Sen Eric Schmitt's Rosanna Rosannadanna moment.

Yes, there is dumb, but this is Trumper Dumb. Dumb-de-Dumb-Dumb dumb.

President Trump himself knows he appeals to the---how can we say in a woke way---intellectually challenged. Watch interviews with attendees at his rallies or read their comments and it is clear they were not their class Valedictorians. Trump himself has two quotes which show his understanding and admiration for the intellectually challenged:

"I love the poorly educated" (Donald J Trump, 2016)

"Smart people don't like me" (Donald J Trump, 2025)

Sen Schmitt, who has spent his Senate career as one of Trump's top adoring and sycophantic supporters in the US Senate, fits nicely in Trump's world of dum(b).

With many people, once they got attached to a theory, it was hard to get them detached. They’d screen out unhelpful facts, invent favorable ones, and ignore contradictions in their own claims. Look at those Sandy Hook, multiple fraud convictions, and Jan. 6th truthers, babbling about false flags and crisis actors and all the rest. When people were motivated enough to believe something, they were going to believe it no matter what. There was no such thing as a bridge too far.

In shallow men the fish of little thoughts cause much commotion. In oceanic minds the whales of inspiration make hardly a ruffle.

And if you read the transcripts none of the Republicans seemed to be interested in the actual crimes Smith found Trump participating in like stealing top secret documents that he got caught red-handed ordering his Egghead Kung Flu man to carry out to his storage shed.

Maybe that's why he paid him $20K extra last year.

MAGAs never seem to offer any explanation why Trump stole those classified documents, why a wedding planner/country clubber would need HCS docs (Human Clandestine Sources), nor why Trump would lie about returning them all, when he had not done so.

Similarly, MAGAs never offer an explanation why Trump would call his goobers to DC for 6 January 2021 (It'll be WILD !!!!!), why he told them to march to the Capitol, and why Trump sat on his fat arse for 187 minutes while seeing the insurrection live on TV and hearing the mob chant "Hang Mike Pence".

THOSE were crimes SC Jack Smith was tasked with investigating. As Smith said in yesterday's Hearing, he found considerable evidence that Trump had committed crimes against the United States and should have been prosecuted in a court of law to prove it.

As others in the room began to realize Sen Schmitt had made a total fool of himself live on TV, nobody looked more shocked than Sen Katie Britt (R-Alabama), a State not known for its collective intellect. Still, even she got it.

Sen Britt happens to be a former Senate Staffer, so she knew that someone on Sen Schmitt's staff had effed up bigly and what that would mean.

A camera zeroed in on Sen Britt's face as it became clear to her Sen Schmitt had messed up the Atlanta Hawks with the collegiate Iowa State Hawkeyes. No doubt this gaffe, along with Sen Britt's gobsmacked mien, will be run as loops on late night TV, on YouTube, and probably even in future campaigns of Sen Schmitt, unless he has a brains to leave the Senate (or always be considered the Fool). The rhyming of Schmitt's name with a four letter word will likely be part of his legacy.
