Neeranam
I learned about this drug many years ago when I was tapering off benzos but it was too expensive for me to buy. Today I saw some for 7 baht each in a local chemists and bought it to help me sleep. Are there any dangers to this drug? Is it psychotropic? Is it addictive? Are there any nasty side effects? Is it good for sleep? I'm a recovered alcoholic so have to watch what I take. Thanks for the replies.
Tagged
Seems like you should read up on the side effects closely https://www.drugs.com/neurontin.html
RichCor
You're initial reference is probably referring to papers like this one: Gabapentin (Neurontin): An Adjunct for Benzodiazepine WithdrawalThomas Penders, Oliver M Glass, Cornel N Stanciu, Thomas M Penders Journal of Addiction and Dependence | Case Report | Publish Date : 2015-11-03 ...have you done the prerequisite google search yet? It certainly doesn't look like something I'd want to take unless absolutely necessary. https://www.google.com/search?q=Neurontin

Neeranam
^ They are made in Thailand, hence the 5 baht/tab price. I believe imported ones would be 20x that or more.
Sheryl
It is used primarily for seizure disorders and neurpathic pain. And temporaily for benzo withdrawal symptoms. It has some very serious side effect and should not be used for help sleeping. Among the serious side effects: osteoporosis accelerated development of cataracts tremors abnormal and uncontrollable eye movements psychiatric disturbances (mania, panic attacks, depression, memory loss) increased susceptibility to infection and many more In addition the drowsiness you are taking it for, for will often decrease over time as your body gets aclcimated My sister has to take this for a seizure disorder. It has worked in controlling her seizures well but she has paid for it in the form of early cataracts and bone loss. I really do not recommend this.
