Only given a 3 month visa in the UK plz help

Featured Replies

Hello, in September i applied and obtained a 3 month education visa for my children, and visas for myself - who have been studying in Thailand for the past 5 years. We planned to go to Thailand between October and November, depending on how we could navigate the protocols to enter Thailand.

We obtained the visa and to our horror it was only 3 months. We obtained a CoE to travel this week, got our our tests, took our children out of school, but shockingly with the UK now implementing restrictions on flights out of the UK, Emirates have cancelled our flights. Our CoE is linked to that flight. So we are going to have to go back to the start of the process.

This basically means our original visa will run out of time. For myself this visa was the most stressful aspect to the process - the long online form, the formatting was horrendous for someone not as technically savy as myself.

Basically with a few weeks left on our visas, do we have to go back and go through the process again - or will the Thai Embassy extend it automatically ?

Plz help.

You visas are valid for entry to the country for 3 months from the date of issue and you will get a 90 day entry.

What day in September was your visas issued?

If your visa has expired before you can enter the country the embassy might issue a new one without having to go through all the paperwork again.

Leaving the UK for education or work is allowed during the lockdown. You can check the uk government website.

All you need is a flight

Yes, but my visa will run out before i leave. I didn't expect it will only be 3 months. Twice i have been curtailed in plans to get to Thailand. Once because i could not get a PCR test anywhere in the UK (even privately) in the alocated time. The second now, because Emirates have cancelled flights.

Then you need to revisit the embassy. Perhaps you can get on an official repatriation flight.  These are very under utilized.
