advancebooking
Im trying to help someone who lives abroad. They have the latest iphone and need help setting it up. It doesnt have the 'touch id' round button at the bottom of the phone. The facial recognition id is set up for my friend. He is saying that he doesnt know the 6 digit passcode. Someone helped him set up the phone. Im thinking that they set up the passcode themselves and didnt give it to my friend. Can I assume the best way to test it is to put a facemask on and try using the facial recognition id. It will not work which will then invoke the screen number pad asking for the passcode. Can I therefore assume that the face id and passcode go hand in hand. Is this correct?
tomazbodner
Yes. You need to set up passcode first. Then you can enroll fingerprints or face ID to unlock the phone to replace the passcode. But every now and then, it still asks for passcode to enable fingerprint or face ID.

Just not pointing the camera at your face, or holding your finger on the camera, might not be better, but definitely easier than putting on a mask ????
