Yes, you can fly Air Asia to Macau v cheaply, and then get a ferry from there to Hong Kong! I can't guarantee 100% that there isn't an even cheaper alternative to this, but this is the cheapest I could find.

airasia to macau and ferry were the cheapest for me, but not if you are in a hurry. Takes about 2 hours total after you get off the plane before you get to HK. Ferry goes every hour or so, so if you are close to that time, hurry up or you have one hour to wait at the ferry terminal....

try www.zuji.com but airasia was 1/2 the price of two tickets with airethopia when I flew. Right now showing 168 USD and taxes for bkk-hk with air india.

Air India is difficult. I tried to get a similar cheap one to Shanghai. I gave up as they don't issue e tickets etc. I used Thai instead. More expensive but no headaches...

Ferry costs about $145 HKD each way per person, from the HK ferry terminal to the Macau ferry terminal by turbojet ferry, takes about an hour. I don't know where the ferries from Macau airport arrive in HK and how much they cost, I would guess a bit more.

I don't think there is a ferry from Macau Airport to Hong Kong, but if you arrive at Macau you can take a special channel, avoiding Macau immigration and getting you via a special transfer service to the ferry terminal. There is a direct ferry from here to HK airport which is a bit more expensive but doesn't run that often.

From Hong Kong Airport there is a direct ferry service to Macau ferry terminal which can be taken from the airside, thus avoiding HK immigration.

Ferries are a bit more regular than that; about every 15 mins on average, and can be as much as every 5-10 on weekends. The bulk of the boats go to HK island, but there are also ferries to take you direct to Tsim Tsa Tsui if you need to be Kowloon-side.

Details for ferries to the island here:

and to TST here:

Hong Kong is a difficult destination to gauge, air ticket price wise, possibly because its a lucrative route and as such airlines compete with each other to "fill the empty seats". At this very moment Thai. Cathay and China Airlines are offering return tickets under a promotion banner, prices between 8000-9700 Baht. So reasonable deals can be found.

Having previously lived in Honkers for over 25 years, I think it fair to say I know that area very well, and because of this, I am more than happy to take AirAsia to Macau, take a 20 minute taxi ride to the HK Ferry Terminal, buy a ticket and end up in HK 50 minutes later.

The last time I did this, I left HK late morning, took the return ferry to Macau, left my suitcases in the Ferry left luggage and then walked around Macau stocking up with good and cheap Portuguese Vino! It was then a simple case of returning to the ferry terminal, collect my baggage and take a 20 minute taxi ride back to the airport.

As I say I know the area very well, but this method may prove to be a little daunting for those who are not familiar with HK/Macau.

As previously mentioned, the ferries operate regularly - every 15 minutes so miss one then its only a short wait for the next one. The only downside is that at weekends or public holidays, every man and his dog leave HK for the casinos in Macau so its imperative that you ensure you have a ticket booked during those times.

So if you have the time, not too much luggage or ankle biters give this way a go, its certainly most enjoyable

Not sure, but I thnk Kuwait Airways had a cheap flight BKK/hong kong too. Also try Gulf Air, Kenya Airways, Pakistan PIA, Ethiopean Airlines, Sri Lankan and Orient Thai Airways. they all go a few times a week.
