Holy basil no defence against Covid, say health officials

Eating 50 grams of fresh holy basil daily will not boost immunity against Covid-19, the Public Health Ministry's Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine said on Friday.

 

In a message issued on the Anti-Fake News Centre Facebook page, the department said there is no scientific evidence that holy basil offers any protection against the virus.

 

"Even though some foreign research suggests that orientin in herbs can combat Covid-19 in the human body, these are just initial studies [on a topic] which needs further investigation," the department said.

 

The department advised people not to eat holy basil every day as this could cause stomach ache.

 

"We ask people not to share this fake news. They can contact (02) 591 70073 or visit the department's website at www.dtam.moph.go.th for more information," the department added.

Luckily my misses is pretty smart and doesn't believe in that sort of nonsense. She was with her sisters who do though.....

I thought 'yipsee' was the number 24.

I had a SIL with some internal problems that needed fixing so she went to the village witchdoctor who breathed in her ear while muttering her incantations. I still got to pay for a major operation at a private hospital a few weeks later but it wasn't cancer so obviously the witchdoctor's work worked.

What about pla raa...that stuffs gotta kill anything!

Ive  used  fairy dust with 100%  success, I have  not  caught Covid, I also have Badgers  Milk which stops  Tigers  coming on my land, works  also 100% never  seen a  Tiger  yet.

There`s the problem.

 

A "department" that recommends buffalo poop as cure for stomach ache is the exact reason why you got so many people in Thailand believing holy basil and all kinds of nonsense is going to cure anything to begin with. The best cure this department can do is shutting down. The effect that will have on Thailand will be so revolutionary that it`s on the same scale as Thailand`s introduction to antibiotics. It`s a childish woowoo department with zero reasons to exist.
