District officials and police raided a beer bar in Jomtien on Friday which was said to be in breach of the provincial restrictions put in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Officials arrived at the busy bar and ordered its immediate closure, with the owner facing 100,000 baht fine and possible further legal action.

The owner told officials the bar was actually a restaurant and therefore was able to serve alcohol to customers ordering food.

However, officials were not convinced and said claims the bar was operating as a restaurant was in order to circumvent rules which ordered all bars, nightclubs and karaoke bars in Pattaya to close.

On Wednesday, Chonburi Governor Phakkhrathon Thianchai declared Banglamung district, including Pattaya as ‘highly controlled zones’. This meant that all bars, nightclubs and initially restaurants had to close.

On Friday, restaurants were given a sudden reprieve, with officials stating they could remain open and serve alcohol with meals.

The name of the beer bar was not reported.

What else do you expect in a beer bar ?

We place an order of garlic bread in the center of the table then carry on as usual.

There are many bars in Jomtien where foreigners gather. Not unusual at all for a Friday night.

And not one person suspicious about the raid? Thais are very jealous of even the perception of someone doing better than them. This popular bar is lucky it wasnt a thai establishment as it may have had a drive by and yes they are common in Thailand or are the bib just doing their jobs hunting for foreign businesses to shake down. It is the courts job to say if guilty and not a bunch of very uneducated thugs in uniform.

New glassed needed. The link in the OP leads to a facebook news site and the name is spelled in Thai.

It's in beach rd. Soi 7.

As long as none of the farangs had been to an illegal gambling den in Banglamung or Rayong in the last month, then I don't see the problem, lol.
