Nicehash mining

I use my laptop’s GTX 1660ti to mine ETH and get about 1 usd equivalent per day mining while I am not using it, after deducing electricity costs.

I recently looked into buying a new rig for mining, but Nvidia 30x0 series are super expensive and unavailable and even 20x0 are hard to find and too pricey in Thailand.

My conclusion was that factoring in the hardware cost it would take some 9 months just to pay off... considering price fluctuations, added noise / heat due to the rig working 24:7, etc I decided against it.

If you can get cheaper hardware it might be worth it or if like me you already own the hardware for other reasons (gaming).

Check https://minerstat.com/hardware/nvidia-gtx-1660ti for calculations for your chosen graphics card.

I run Phoenixminer daytime with Nicehash when I don't use the PC with an RX580. Pays like 50c a day. Not worth it but also worth the  electricity it takes. Who knows, BTC may top out at 1 million soon ????
