Spas--desirable Features--care & Maintenance

Featured Replies

Hi, hope someone can help.

I have a six sided sala that measure about 10 or 11 sq meters (2 M for each side of hex, hope I did math correctly). Its rarely used and built with a very sturdy cement base with ceramic tiles and wired for lighting & fans.

Thought about installing a spas for 2 or 4 people to enjoy, but I'm a total novice and have no idea about features to look for, care & maintenence. The sala is covered and screened on all six sides so perhaps tree & yard debris would not be a problem.

I assume that water treatment would be the same for that of a swimming pool, which I'm familiar with, ie chlorine, PH measurements etc.

Do spas normally come equiped with thier own water filtration system or is this somehing I'd have to purchase separatly? How about size of motor to drive water pumps for water jets? Should the pump be turned off when not in use or should leave on continuously for filtration purposes. How 'bout water heater? Would water have to be drained periodicly or left in all the time?

Any experience out there, and are there any features I should look for when purchasing a spas. or perhaps someone could suggest a reliable brand name.

I live in Chiang Mai and would prefer to purchase locally.

I know I should ask salesperson, but they would say anything, just to make a sale. For armed is forewarned. Caveat emptor as they say.

Thanks in advance
